Sunday 7th March - walk **** - The Dip to Felixstowe Ferry – cold, frosty and sadly cloudy.

With wall-to-wall sunshine and light winds, we decided yesterday to go for a sunrise walk this morning so set the alarm for 6 but were awake at 5.40 anyway. So, we got up made a flask and then had to get the frost off the van before driving off to The Dip. Felixstowe was covered in a covering of white but sadly it was cloudy so we were not expecting to see the sun rise and all we got was a narrow red stripe on the horizon but it was very lovely walking with only the odd jogger or dog walker passing along with hundreds of gulls! We were wrapped up with our ski gear so were not cold, helped by the very light breeze. On reaching the Ferry we meet a nice family, a young mum with her son out on a sponsored litter pick and had a lovely chat with them as a seal was fishing in the Deben behind us:) We could even sponsor the lad as Mag found a pound coin in her pocket! We than had our flask on the bench by the jetty with only gulls for company as a fishing boat headed out in the calm waters. Then a quick trip around the boat yard checking out the delict boats before retuning to coast path having a nice chat to the man who lives near the Martello tower and back to the van. So, although we did not see the sun rise today it was lovely none the less, always the best time of day. Then home for porridge while watch Benny and Rue the new kittens getting a little braver in our back garden, even doing some tree climbing!
